Weekend in Eataly

Italy had always been one of my top places in which I hoped to travel to in Europe whenever I got the chance. I knew that I had to schedule a trip there during my semester abroad. This past weekend I travelled first to Rome for two days and then went to Sorrento, Italy for my last day of the trip. The trip was amazing. It was crazy to see all of these things you see in movies or from other people’s travels, in real life. Although Rome was a great sight to see I loved Sorrento more because of how beautiful it was. It was such a cute and quaint town along the coast of Italy overlooking the water and the Amalfi coast. The lifestyle is very island like and beachy therefore I wish I had gone during the summertime but either way it was still great to be able to go there.

I had very high expectations for the food in Italy for obvious reasons. My first meal there was lunch on Friday and we went to some cafe on our way to see the Trevi Fountain. I had this spinach and cheese ravioli and it was delicious but not as amazing as I would’ve expected. However, for dinner that night I went on trip advisor to check some reviews for restaurants and I picked one from there. The restaurants was called Ristorante Crispi 19. This was by far the best meal I have had during my time abroad. Everything was cooked and prepared perfectly. To start we ordered the beef carpaccio with salad and truffles. Simple but perfect! For my main dish I got the spaghetti carbonara which is a pretty typical traditional italian pasta dish. However, this was for sure the best carbonara I’ve ever had. The pasta was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was creamy yet not overwhelmingly heavy and seasoned to perfection. If I could I would have this dish all the time and would never get sick of it.

Ofcourse, we had to order dessert. The dessert was just the cherry on top of an impeccable meal. We got the hot chocolate lava cake served with vanilla gelato and then the pistachio parfait. Both were delicious!

In Sorrento, the food was delicious as well. We went to another greatly accredited restaurant from trip advisor and we were not disappointed. The only critique I had was some of the portions were very small almost too small. Other than that the food was delicious and the menu was very traditional italian. My trip to Italy was so much fun and I hope I can go back one day during the summertime and see the whole Amalfi Coast.
